Dan Ross (Stewardship Committee Co-Chair) has lived in Long Valley for over 30 years. He has a B.S. in Environmental Policy, Institutions, and Behavior, from Rutgers University, and got his start in the conservation field through serving as an NJDEP Watershed Ambassador for Watershed Management Area 1. Since then he has worked for Rutgers Cooperative Extension Services of Morris and Somerset County, where he helped to coordinate the Rutgers Environmental Stewards Program and disseminate information about green infrastructure to municipalities and homeowners. He also spent some time working with the Great Swamp Watershed Association part time as an environmental educator. Currently Dan serves as the Environmental Stewardship Coordinator for Somerset County Park Commission where he oversees volunteer workgroups, coordinates Eagle Scout projects, and manages all land stewardship activities including invasive plant removals, forest and meadow management, and the Environmental Education Center’s Deer Management Program. Dan is happiest when he is out in nature and is looking forward to assisting the Land Trust with future stewardship endeavors.
